Jersey City

Overall: Jersey City has experienced exponential growth since the 2000s and continues to enjoy such fast-paced development going forward. Often nick-named as the "sixth boroughs" of New York City, Jersey City and Hoboken areas are home to NYC lovers because how quickly the commute is by PATH trains to midtown/downtown NYC, and how much the vibrant/diverse/urban-feeling the downtown areas resemble Manhattan. Residents are not sacrificing the Manhattan vibe they are looking for - restaurants, bars, coffee shops, car rentals, convenient stores, groceries, malls, clothing shops, convenient stores, daycares, dry cleaning are all within walking distance. If you want to escape the city life a little bit, go enjoy the Liberty State Park right in Jersey City, which covers 1,212 acres with stunning overlooks to downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The best part? Jersey City's home price is way more affordable than Manhattan's. The extra 10-20 minutes commute time to Manhattan in exchange for home ownership is totally worth it to home buyers. If you are not ready to own yet, there are plenty of options for luxury high-rise rental buildings that provide full concierge service. If you are looking something else than a condo, Jersey City also offers other options such as multifamily homes, townhouses, and single family homes.

Transportation: Getting to Manhattan is cannot be easier. Jersey City has four PATH stations - Newport, Grove Street, Exchange Place, and Journal Square - to transport residents to Manhattan. Metro card can be used along with the pass issued by PATH. See the PATH service map here. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail connects JC residents to other parts of NJ such as Hoboken, Weehawken, and West New York.

Schools:

Due to its large population in JC's six neighborhoods, Jersey City offers fourteen (14) Elementary Schools (Pre-K--5), thirteen (13) Grammar Schools (Pre-K-8), four (4) Middle Schools (6-8), six (6) High Schools (9-12), one (1) Secondary School (6-12), one (1) Alternative Program (serving grades 6-12), and three (3) Early Childhood Centers. At the secondary level, we offer comprehensive Middle and High Schools as well as district-wide selective programs to suit a range of interests and talents.
